It’s Megan’s birthday party today so she and about 6 friends are outside, throwing water balloons at each other, walking through our forest, sitting around a fir, and playing badminton. Some of her friends are quite weird, so I decided to save myself the embarrassment of forced conversation with them in favor of sitting inside stumbling and playing computer games.
Unfortunately, Mom is watching TV in here (so she can be in fairly close proximity to the goings on of the teenagers here) and she keeps flipping back and forth between QVC and Bonanza. Everytime she switches to QVC she says (mostly to herself) “I don’t care too much for the clothes from this company” or something along those lines, but she continues to flip back to… as if something is going to come on in the next 60 seconds that she will be interested in. I don’t want to talk about Bonanza…. it’s just boring.
Mom does occasionally order things from QVC, and so I’m going to see if I can find a few pictures of things she has ordered in all of their god-awfulness.
6:54 – I typed QVC in the address bar, and the first thing that catches my eye is QVC: Fashion… heh, that’s only accurate if one of the stupid uses of the confusing colon ( : ) is for it to be used in place of the words “lack of”
6:56 - a picture for this one
This is the QVC Customer top rated Tee :-\
6:59 – I went to the other room to get the numbers off of some of mom’s QVC boxes to see if I could get pics of exactly what she ordered.
(side note: my sister mixed skittles and M&Ms in the same bowl, which is quite frustrating)
7:03 – Here are the pics from mom’s most recent order:
where’s waldo?
So…. As you can see, my mom is a little lacking on Fashion Awareness… but what really gets me is that people buy enough of stuff like this for it to remain in production.
Everything I listen to look at or think about leads to Charlie. I can’t wait to see him.
I’m finding it really hard to keep myself entertained without talking to him, lol, and then we don’t always say a whole bunch.. but a feel a ton better.
I like having titles that only mean something to one person.
Yesterday i got some sawdust or something in my eye, and got a few scratches from it, so I’m supposed to relax that eye as much as possible for a day or two… it feels quite a bit better today already.
I’m going to finish this episode of family guy, then try to finish cleaning my room.. which has taken far too long already.
I keep finding more and more things that really catch my interest whilst stumbling. The latest of these things is the music of Jay Brannon.
Half-Boyfriend by Jay Brannan (which i downloaded from towleroad: http://www.towleroad.com/2008/06/exclusive-dow-1.html)
I’ve since downloaded his album on itunes and have been listening to it all night.
Today has been a generally lazy and very nice day. I’m not really looking forward to working to dad tomorrow, but getting paid today helps with that quite a bit.
I get to visit Charlie in 6 days and about 9 hrs! I can’t wait.
I stumbled upon a gay rights page, and one of the things mentioned was about how the boy scouts don’t allow gays or atheists into their organization.
Oops, I guess some of us slip through the cracks.
Then I thinking about it and came across this video:
What is wrong with having gays in scouts? Boy Scouts has nothing to do with romantic relationships, it’s about learning survival skills, improving yourself mentally, physically, and morally, becoming a leader, learning about things you normally wouldn’t have (merit badges), spending time outdoors, learning to appreciate nature, and building social skills. Is a gay man incapable of one or more of these things? The BSA should be HAPPY to have gay members, because it would be keeping those kids off the streets and giving them something to do other than what a stereotypical young man might do with his free time!
What is more is that even though it is a private organization the government provides for some of the BSA’s needs, andit is therefore subject to anti discrimination laws.
This got me thinking a little bit about my future. Will I be able to volunteer to be a leader for a local boy scout troop? Will i be able to be “out” in whatever school i teach in? Are parents going to call and ask for their kids to be pulled from my class if i am? Will Charlie and I be ale to live in a place where we won’t have to worry about it?
So I’ve read 2 books so far, one from the sword of truth and one from kamigawa. I want to do so much more reading than what I am even now.
I’ve been working with dad at Grandpa’s house, building a barn, injuring myself, holding trusses in the air, trying to not slip off a roof… you know… standard things at work with dad
my room is almost all the way cleaned… not that i’ve had much time or energy to work on it
I moved back home from college for the summer today. I can’t sleep, it’s too warm and stuffy in my room. Speaking of my room, I’ve decided to reorganize and possibly repaint and (partially) refurnish my room.
I want to get at it soon, because otherwise I’m pretty sure that it just won’t happen. But to get at it, I need to unpack… and that’s just a daunting task.
I have a new idea for a transcription for a saxophone concerto, I’m going to work on that soon also.
I have big plans for tomorrow including hunting for a job, fixing the lawn mower, mowing the lawn, chopping down a tree that’s about to fall on the house, and unpacking day.
I’m hoping to read a lot this summer. Here are just a few of the books I’m thinking of:
more Dune books
finish the sword of truth series
finish the otherland series
read the kamigawa block MTG books
