Mathematics Version 2.12

What's new in this update?

* Pi now equals exactly 3.

* e now equals exactly 2.

* Fixed problem where division by zero led to undefined results.

* Fixed spelling mistake in description of Pythagorean theorem.

* Various optimisations now mean that all problems can be solved in polynomial time.

* The term "negative number" has been deemed offensive. The term "non-positive non-zero number" is now in use.

* Various optimisations now mean that all problems can be solved in polynomial time.

* Support is no longer offered for Imaginary Number Feature (i).

* Fixed problem where 1 = .999...

* Now compatible with Microsoft products (65536 <> 65535 <> 100000).

* Fixed problem that lead to the Axiom of Choice being undecidable.

* Implemented L'Hopital's rule for non-indeterminate forms.

* Groups are now required to be abelian; former groups will now be called groupites.

* Fixed the Banach-Tarski cloning glitch.

* Removed the Proof By Contradiction exploit.

* Users may now enter the paradise Cantor created for us for a nominal monthly fee.

* Basic arithmetic is now complete and consistent.

* Fractals have been smoothed out to improve rendering.

* All matrices are now invertible, former matrices are now called matrons.

* Cantor's dust has been swept from the servers.

* New valid method of proof: Proof by Example.

* All incompleteness theorems are now false. Anything can be proven or disproven.

* The halting problem is decidable.

* Anything can be written as an elementary function if we go far enough in calling something elementary.

* The Riemann Hypothesis is false.

* The Collatz Conjecture is false.

* Calculus now consists of only addition and subtraction.

* Fixed known bug where Fermat's Last Theorem failed to hold for n=1 or n=2.

* Due to customer complaints about other implementations, the natural numbers now start at -1.

* After a successful beta test in category theory, proof by diagram chasing is now applicable across all of mathematics.

* During extended server downtime, problems will now slowly solve themselves, simulating the progress you would have been making.

* Fixed bug where large cardinals failed to show up in certain models of ZFC.

* Mobius Strip fixed to have two sides.

* Infinity has been nerfed to constant value of 1,000,000.

* Negative numbers now use differently colored numbers to reduce confusion.

* All numbers above 3 are now a suffusion of yellow.

* Subtraction has been removed, however it is still available on special subtraction servers.

* New Axiom: Axiom of Clarity. If after explaining a proof to someone for 5 minutes, if they still do not understand, they may use the Axiom of Clarity to assert the existence of a proof that your proof is invalid.

* In response to demand, elegant proofs of certain theorems have been shortened that they may fit into the margins of books as commentary.

* Research has shown that random numbers along a finite distribution were unfairly biased towards the digit one over other digits. This has been fixed.

* We are proud to unveil a new kind of super-calculus, which requires twenty people to complete even the most rudimentary calculations over a period of hours of collaborative work. We feel this new math will challenge those at the higher-end of the profession.

* New, epic applications of super-calculus have been implemented as well.

* "Proof by Wikipedia" is now a valid form of proof.

* Feature: Uniform probability measure for the real line has been added. Expect support for other spaces in subsequent versions.

* For a small monthly fee, all infinite series can be summed. All users will be allowed to use that 1 + 2 + 3 + ... = -1/12 for a trial period of week.

* The math servers are going down soon to make way for the new BioWare math.

* Russell's Paradox fixed - sets can now include themselves and not include themselves at the same time.

* For usability, numbers of the form a+bi have been made less complex.

* All "maths" not involving numbers has been split off into daughter projects so that Maths 2.1.2 can now fit in one brain.

* Everyone finally understands how abbreviations and number work, and now the singular word "mathematics" is properly abbreviated "math" worldwide.

Brass tech

April 23, 2008

today, the last day of class, Bruce stopped me after class and asked me to come to his office… so i did. When i got in there he told me that i have been without a doubt the best brass tech student he has ever had. He said something along the lines of not only was i good at all the instruments i picked up, but i was the best at each one in each rotation. He said that my essays on fundamentals and first lessons included the most information out of anyone, and told me that i have the best grade in the class without a doubt. He also invited me (again) to be in horn choir in the fall, which i will probably take him up on.

but what felt the best was when he said that i was going to be a stellar band director and he thinks that after getting myself established that high schools will be begging me to do their band programs.

it felt good
i’m really excited to start

*squinty eyes*

April 16, 2008

Hypocrites annoy me.

At the beginning of the year Ethan made it very clear that the only real ‘room’ rule he wanted was to knock before coming into any of the rooms. This has been a good rule when obeyed by Scot and Me, because often when we knock to come in, we hear a quick rustling around a hesitated “come in” and we see his homescreen on firefox (except in the case where he was still clicking out of porn when scot came in). Then he will usually go to the bathroom and take a little bit longer in there than really necessary to eliminate waste.  EVERY day after lunch, when i come in to grab my books for the afternoon this happens, and a couple of times he’s responded “just a minute” and well…. that leaves no doubts at all what was going on.

Another thing
His clothes a.r.e. a.l.l. o.v.e.r.  t.h.e.  r.o.o.m.
He has a bag in front of the bottom two dresser drawers (which are the ones i use), clothes strewn all the way from his bed to my desk and even occaisonally under my bed, he uses almost all of the space on top of the dresser, and NEVER CLEANS ANY OF IT UP!!

He also, by far, produces the most garbage, and has only taken the trash out like… twice, and liz has helped take trash out before.. and she doesnt even live here!

Scot and/or I always get annoyed enough that we just do it.

There was one week Scot told me he was going to ask ethan to take out the trash and requested that i not do it so he could see just how long it would go before he finally did it. Nearly three weeks (and a horrible smelling room) later, Scot and i bag up the trash, which had piled up on top of the trash can at least double it’s height and took it out.

Another thing that bothers me:
I consider myself a very considerate person. When i use something, i return it to the state it was before i used it, or when i enter a room and then leave again. If ever Ethan leaves before me in the morning (LOL @ the thought of it, but beleive it or not it has happened) or when i’m taking a nap or whatever, he will enter or leave… and then leave the door open. While this may sound very trivial, sometimes i just want to sleep without people in the main room or hallway watching!!! I make sure that whether he has the door open or shut when i come in, it stays that way when i leave.

Something else, that probably isnt his fault… well at least not directly.
His soap smells HORRIBLE. At the beggining of the year i just thought it smelled bad, but now when he gets out of the shower i have to struggle to keep myself from gagging…. I mean.. it smells clean, but the most disgusting kind of clean it could be.

Speaking of showering, he never takes any clothes in there with him. Before going to the shower, he usually strips (usually in the area on the floor least populated by his clothes, which happens to be my side of the room) down to his boxers then walks to the shower. He’ll come back with nothing but a towel on (and believe me, that is not a pretty sight) and then do this really awkward thing where he puts boxers on with a towel on, and more often than not he doesnt accomplish this very successfully.

And then he always sleeps in just boxers. For the summer i can understand this, at least when it is really hot, and i wouldnt have a problem with it any other time, but it just seems like everything he does draws attention to the fact that that is all he is wearing. For example, he will rub his belly or itch his ass….it’s just frustrating, and then he’s always closing the window or turning the fan down/off. The rest of us like it pretty cold when we are sleeping, and when he closes the window, within about 20 minutes the temperature might have raised 10 degrees or more. If i’m ever gone for an extended period of time, i will come back to a room where ethan is sitting at his computer sweating and it is about 80 degrees

I will not miss rooming with ethan, ever
it’s not so much that he’s a bad roommate, because if you ever ask him (with the exception of cleaning or taking out the trash) to do something he won’t make a big deal about, but the very nature of him annoys me

I don’t know how liz is going to live her whole life with him, good luck to her on that

*edit* I H A T E  T H E  A N G R Y   V I D E O  G A M E  N E R D (not to be confused with ethan)
